Verified Field Project

Converting a 60m² Rural Machinery Shed into a 45kW High-Airflow Mining Outpost

Client: Regional Livestock & Grain Enterprise • Location: Maffra, Gippsland VIC

The Challenge

The client possessed a 100kVA transformer with surplus power off-peak but faced dust ingress from unsealed farm roads and severe 40°C summer temperature spikes inside corrugated iron shed walls.

Engineering Solution

Mind Work Point conducted a full on-site airflow audit. We designed a sealed cold-aisle partition utilizing low-resistance washable MERV 7 intake filters, dual 600mm variable-speed belt-drive exhaust fans producing 11,500 CFM at 0.15 in. wg static pressure, and a dedicated 63A three-phase sub-distribution board with Type C curve miniature circuit breakers.

Operational Outcome

Hashboard temperatures remained below 64°C throughout peak 41°C ambient summer days. Dust buildup inside heatsink channels was eliminated, cutting planned maintenance teardowns from monthly to quarterly.

Key Metrics: 14 ASIC units deployed, 44.8 kW steady load, 4.8°C room delta T, zero thermal trip events over 12 months.

Behind-the-Meter Solar Absorption System for an Orchard in Northern Victoria

Client: Commercial Fruit Packing Facility • Location: Cobram, VIC

The Challenge

Exporting excess 120kW solar generation back to the grid was yielding nominal feed-in credits of less than 3c/kWh during sunny noon peaks due to regional network capacity constraints.

Engineering Solution

We structured an automated step-load curriculum and custom script architecture. Six Whatsminer M30S++ units were staged across automated contactors linked to smart CT clamp power meters on the solar inverter bus, stepping power in 3.4kW increments as solar irradiance increased from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Operational Outcome

Achieved 91% self-consumption of generated solar power, zero grid backfeed penalties, and fully automated graceful shutdowns when heavy agricultural cold-storage compressors kick on.

Key Metrics: 91% solar utilization, 6-stage automated power stepping, 0 inverter overvoltage trips.
Workshop Participant Testimonials

Attendee Feedback from Seaton Lab Cohorts

"We were struggling with high shed temperatures during the January heatwaves, with our four Antminer units repeatedly thermal-tripping. Callum came out to our property, measured our static pressure across the timber louvres, and drafted an exhaust plenum blueprint with twin 500mm fans. Following his schematic reduced our ambient delta from 14°C to 4.2°C. The only hitch was waiting an extra week for the custom steel duct transition pieces to be fabricated by our local sheet-metal shop, but the engineering math was spot-on."

On-Site Facility Power & Airflow Audit

"Attending the Seaton seminar clarified the exact inverter pairing we needed for our 85kW rooftop photovoltaic array. Learning how to configure dynamic curtailment through Home Assistant instead of constantly flipping heavy circuit breakers saved our power supplies from inductive voltage spikes. The practical spreadsheet models gave us real numbers to discuss with our accountant."

Solar & Off-Grid Mining Integration Seminar

"Marcus is an exceptional instructor when it comes to tracing oscilloscope clock signals across series voltage domains. I had three dead S19 hashboards sitting in storage that I could not diagnose. By the afternoon session in Seaton, I identified two shorted LDO regulators and one failed bootstrap capacitor. The pace was quite fast and requires solid comfort with fine tweezers and flux, but it gave me the exact diagnostic confidence I was missing."

Hashboard Diagnostics & Micro-Soldering Workshop

"The hands-on practice with 32A three-phase distribution boxes and negative-pressure acoustic plenums was invaluable. Undervolting our machines down from 34 J/TH to 28 J/TH dropped our monthly power draw significantly while keeping fan speeds at a quiet 4,200 RPM. A genuinely rigorous, no-nonsense technical weekend."

ASIC Hardware Deployment & Tuning Masterclass

"The workshop was packed with practical data on cable derating and thermal imaging. My only minor critique is that the printed workbook had so much dense electrical reference material that two days felt tight to absorb every single formula, though the follow-up review channel made asking post-class questions seamless."
